CHILD SAFETY POLICY

I. ENTRY PROVISIONS
General provisions

Article 1

These rules define the measures and obligations of the organization to ensure
the safety of children, the duties of the organization’s employees and the duties of
the parents. An employee of the organization who violates the provisions of these rules,
regardless of whether the consequences have occurred or could occur, commits an offense
of their professional duties.

Article 2

KATRO Bulgaria works in accordance with the basic principles of the EU for child protection:
1. every child is recognized, respected and protected as a bearer of rights and should not be
discriminated against;
2. child protection systems include preventive measures;
3. families are supported in their role as primary guardians;
4. society recognizes and supports the child’s right to freedom from all forms of violence;
5. child protection systems ensure adequate care, including standards,
monitoring and evaluation indicators and systems;
6. our work is guided by child protection policies and reporting mechanisms at
working with children;
7. all professionals working for and with children are certified and trained;
8. child protection systems have transnational and cross-border mechanisms;
9. no child shall be without the support and protection of a legal guardian or other
a responsible adult or competent public authority;
10. for youth workers and professionals in the non-governmental sector is organized
risk identification training.

Article 3

Employees responsible for the safety of children are required to comply with the measures for
organization’s child safety.

II. CHILD SAFETY MEASURES
Child safety measures on the premises

Article 4

When children work or stay on the premises, the work must be organized according to
a way that ensures their safety.
The safety of children on the premises must be ensured by:
– preventing the possibility of children injuring themselves through inappropriate movement in
the premises (running, jumping) or by inappropriate use of the equipment which
use;

– prevention of aggressive behavior between children, which can lead to
injury;
– ensuring that equipment used for work and play is not damaged and is
safe to use;
– ensuring that children are taught to use dangerous tools and equipment and yes
be supervised at all times when using them.
Care should be taken to:
– the floor of the organization’s premises is slip-resistant;
– the water in the children’s wash basins should not exceed 35 °C;
– the ventilation in the rooms where there are children is in accordance with the regulations;
– the temperature in the rooms is in accordance with the legal requirements and the children are
dressed appropriately for such a temperature.

III. CHILD SAFETY MEASURES IN SPECIAL CASES
Measures to be taken in case of injury or
signs of illness of a child during the activity

Article 5

If the child is diagnosed with a medical condition, the organization employee must
inform parents.
If the medical care is urgent and the parents cannot or cannot be informed
to come pick up the child immediately, the child:
– take to a doctor; or
– called a first aid vehicle.
No medical intervention on the child’s body is allowed without the prior
written consent of the parents. In the event of an epidemic, the organization must strictly
fulfills the instructions of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bulgaria.

IV. OBLIGATIONS OF EMPLOYEES AND PARENTS OF THE ORGANIZATION

Article 6

(employees of the organization)

The staff of the organization and other professionals who work directly with children should be
familiar with the provisions of the Child Safety Regulations when entering into employment
contract with the organization. When starting work, they should be familiar with the locations or
the areas that are particularly dangerous for the safety of children. When doing your job
the employee is required to perform his duties and act in such a manner when in contact with
children, so as not to endanger the health and life of the child.

Article 7
(parents of children)

Parents are required to comply with the provisions of the Child Safety Policy and
the instructions of the employee of the organization regarding the safety of children in
the organization.
Parents are responsible for the healthy appearance of the child. The child must be suitable
dressed and shod for the weather and planned educational activities. Parents are responsible
for personal hygiene and the hygiene of your child’s clothing.
They must ensure that the child does not bring into the organization things that could
endanger his health or the health and safety of other children.

V. FINAL PROVISIONS

Article 8

This regulation shall enter into force on the date of signature by the Executive Director.
